Idol watchers are going nuts over 17 year old David Archuleta. His Tuesday performance of “Imagine” amazed fans and judges alike and placed David at the forefront of the Idol race.
Many are looking back and comparing this performance to Kelly Clarkson’s “Natural Woman” and Carrie Underwood’s “Alone”. Only difference - looks like this year’s winner will be a guy. David’s got an upperhand with the “tween” crowd of 10 to 16 year old girls!
Stop the presses! Ashlee Simpson actually stopped leeching on her boyfriend’s fame and left her karaoke machine at home this week when she performed at LAX Nightclub at the Luxor Hotel in Las Vegas. She finally unleashed her stellar vocals on a live audience which is more than we can say for Paula Abdul. Her father and manager Joe Simpson and boyfriend Pete Wentz were there to support the gal as she traveled through the undiscovered realm of not faking it. She’s never going to be able to drop that lip synching reputation. Too bad. Change managers now if you want to save what’s left of your career!
Rihanna has banned umbrellas from her UK tour.
The 20-year-old star has insisted the item be confiscated from fans, in case they injure themselves trying to copy the dance routine to her hit song ‘Umbrella’.
Andy McDonald, a security guard at the Aberdeen Exhibition Centre, where Rihanna performed on Monday, said: “We were taking precautions over a potential accident. We were told Rihanna’s song features dancing with umbrellas on stage. We didn’t want the crowd following her actions and someone getting their eye poked out.”
The decision follows reports of several injuries caused by umbrella-related incidents during Rihanna’s recent European dates. One fan due to attend one of the singer’s upcoming shows said: “I was really looking forward to whipping out my umbrella during the song. I have been practising the routine for weeks but it has all been for nothing.”

Well, it’s done and over with. The Spice Girls have wrapped up their reunion tour and they’ve posted their farewell on their official blog. They say “Our time is up… we’ve come to the end of the road… there are tears of both sadness and joy. Look how far we’ve come!” They thank all the loyal fans who, ten years on, are still giving their full support to the girls. America’s most famous trio of virgins, The Jonas Brothers, performed for 750 shrieking fans at Kimball Middle School in Elgin, Illinois on Friday morning. 15-year old Nick, 18-year old Joe and 20-year old Kevin want kids to eat healthy so they announced their new breakfast initiative with Breakfast Breaks. One lucky winner will get the chance to get to star with the brothers in a national commercial. Kevin says “Breakfast Breaks is an awesome product that is a nutritious way to make sure kids eat breakfast every morning so we are really excited to be working together with them on this initiative. Our fans always surprise us with how creative they are, so this contest will be awesome. We can’t wait to meet the winner.”
I’ve already said that Avril Lavigne has settled her copyright infringement lawsuit with The Rubinoos. And now, the guys that sued her have made a statement further saying that the pop rocker is in the clear. The singer was sued back in July by Tommy Dunbar and James Gangwer over their 1979 song “I Wanna Be Your Boyfriend”.
They have now renounced their suit and are saying that “We are satisfied that any similarities between the two songs resulted from Avril and Luke’s use of certain common and widely used lyrics. We therefore completely exonerate Avril and Luke from any wrongdoing of any kind in connection with the claims made by us in our lawsuit.”

News broke out that Avril Lavigne’s Spring 2008 tour is not selling well. In light of that, Avril is settling for a free concert. While it’s not really that bad to hear, when you find out that it’s for the opening of Best Buy in Canada, yeah it is bad.
The Canadian sell out’s concert will be at the Swangard Stadium on December 2 at 1 PM for the free concert. The first 350 people at any Best Buy store in the Lower Mainland on Wednesday and Thursday before noon will get a pair of tickets for the show. There are also free VIP passes and autograph passes being given away.
